Working with the Director of the emergent Institute of Fashion, Textiles and Technology (IFTT), and across academic, business and innovation teams, the post holder will play a key role in the strategic development of the Institute of Fashion, Textiles and Technology, UAL. The post holder will help to establish relevant partnerships across industry, academia and government to support a portfolio of research, and research informed (Knowledge Exchange) KE.They will plan and initiate the writing of research council funding bids as either Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator, building on a track record of attracting research funding and contract research.The post holder will also support Early Career Researchers in acquiring Research and Knowledge Exchange skills, including development of research funding proposals, and will also act as Director of Study and/ or supervisor to research degree students as appropriate.Please note, that the FTE of this role is flexible (full-time/part-time) and can be adjusted in relation to salary expectations.Why choose us One of four emergent strategically aligned Institutes at UAL, the Institute of Fashion, Textiles and Technology, builds on long established UAL expertise, and the current delivery of a £5.5m AHRC Creative Research & Development Partnership (CRDP) award (2018-23), The Business of Fashion, Textiles and Technology (BFTT). Working in collaboration with University partners (including Loughborough University; University College London; Queen Mary University; University of Leeds and Cambridge University), BFTT has established a novel support programme for UK FTT SMEs, and consequently a portfolio of STEAM research and development initiatives spanning: sustainable design; environmental science; materials engineering and manufacturing; polymer chemistry; anthropology; business and management; computer science; digital design and production. Your profileThe post holder will show academic fashion, textiles and technology related leadership in one or more of the following: science; engineering; computing; smart manufacturing and business disciplines, and evidence of involvement at a senior level with relevant professional bodies or learned societies.The post holder will be familiar with the UK Industrial Strategy, and UKRI initiatives, they will have experience of planning and initiating the writing of research council funding bids as either Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator, building on a track record of attracting research funding and contract research.
