Job Description

Job Title: Production Assistant - InDesign (online publishing)Job type: PermanentLocation: London Head Office, HolbornReporting Relationship: Production ManagerArgus is a fast-growing global B2B media company providing essential information on commodity markets. As a business, we continue to grow and evolve, adding new markets, new services, new delivery options and improved analytical tools.Job PurposeWe are currently looking for a professional Production Assistant/Editor to join our busy team.In this role, you will work on a high volume of multi-media Argus publications, following a production line approach to ensure that all quality control processes are followed to provide excellent service to our customers.Key Responsibilities

  • Upload publications in accordance with review and sign off processes to meet strict publishing deadlines.
  • Act as a point of support and expertise for the production and publishing process.
  • Ensure the highest standards in all published material.
  • Communicate effectively with Editors and with the Sub editor’s department to ensure the smooth running of the production process.
  • Recognise errors in copy and to improve the quality when required.
  • Actively contribute ideas and support the development of the production process.
  • Skills and Experience
  • Proficient with Adobe InDesign (current version cs5). In particular, knowledge of the technical aspects of InDesign, template production, automation and scripting experience would be an advantage.
  • Proficient in Excel. In particular, creating graphs and manipulating data (for use in InDesign layouts).
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS. Knowledge of JavaScript would be advantageous.
  • Excellent eye for detail and ability to follow processes.
  • Ability to work to strict publication deadlines.
  • A good manner to communicate with colleagues.
  • Experience of using a CMS to upload and manage content, would be advantageous - or an aptitude to pick them up quickly will be looked for.
  • Ability to work with the minimum of supervision but to also work within a team structure.
  • Ability to accommodate some shift work: most shifts are 10am-6pm but a late shift of 1pm-9pm on a rota basis is part of the role.
