Job Description

The Role: Product Chapter Lead Grade: (relevant for internal applicants only): 15 The Location: US or UK preferred The Impact: S&P Dow Jones Indices is seeking a Chapter Lead to guide, inspire, and lead our talented team of Product Managers experts throughout our divisions Agile transformation. As the Chapter Lead, you are responsible for optimizing the deployment of Product Managersexperts across agile teams. You will anchor innovative capabilities to transform how we work. You will bring new ideas, approaches, and insights to improve product management practices and develop new skills and capabilities, enabling team growth while addinggreater value. You are committed to maintaining and developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure that you and your Sub Chapter Leads bring the latest thinking and best practices to all teams. You will report to the Chief Product Officer/ Chief Design Officer and serve as an inspirational leader, modeling a culture of continuous learning, mentoring, and coaching. You will develop the Chapter strategy, manage matrix relationships, furthering the goalsof Agile transformation and new ways of working. You will collaborate closely with Group, Team, and other Chapter Leads to drive the product effectiveness, excellence, and execution for the Product organization. Responsibilities: Vision & Values

  • Guide direction on Chapter vision, enable critical decision-making, help unblock escalated issues, and visibly champion effort of transformation management strategy
  • Help drive the agile strategy across the organization to the right levels of leadership and teams to ensure understanding of transformation objectives
  • Key player in successfully implementing and maturing agile while helping to drive organizational and cultural transformation changes
  • Be an ambassador for agile and a catalyst for continuous improvement - role models agile principles and behaviors
  • Become a recognized expert internally and externally, building leadership presence in Product Management practices
People & Operating Model
  • Co-create the Agile operating model for the product management chapters across the Product organization
  • Manage the overall People resource planning across the Product organization ensuring short and long-term competence and capacity of team members
  • Oversee the overall optimization of talent while defining and building learning opportunities connected to the strategic direction of the Product organization and product management capabilities
  • Develop and drive the Chapter strategy and road map of capabilities, development, and succession
  • Lead a team of Sub Chapter Leads responsible for coaching and developing team members to maintain best-in-class Product expertise to maximize performance
  • Mentor, develop, and enable Sub Chapter Leaders to deliver increased value to our customers and the teams and groups they support
  • Assess Chapter skill gaps, develop mitigation efforts, and source, onboard and drive performance management of Chapter Leads across the Product organization
  • Champion and cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and ambitious culture that seeks out diverse viewpoints, encourages risk-taking and learning, and rewards great teamwork
Product Management Chapter Excellence
  • Support the Chief Product Officers strategic objectives through actionable initiatives across Sub Chapter Leads and Chapter members
  • Create and maintain functional best practices, guardrails and standards around product management (product lifecycles, roadmaps, etc.) agnostic of asset class/family; share learning and ensure alignment across teams
  • Grow and mature the function by driving product excellence and execution, setting standards for delivery and driving the function to constantly improve quality and performance
  • Inspire and empower Sub Chapter Leads and team members to deliver on the business outcomes of their respective teams
  • Partner closely with Group Leads, Sub Chapter Leads and Cross-functional Leaders to execute the Product multi-year product strategy, perpetuate expedited outcomes, and reduce lag times
  • Foster a "one team" mindset across the Product function, with a shared view of success
  • Leverage strategic connections across the product organization to ensure that product management standards are implemented and support strategic product goals
  • Partner with Compliance, Legal and Index Governance to protect analytical firewalls while also optimizing operational excellence
What we are looking for: Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree, MBA or equivalent experience required
  • Seasoned senior manager with 15+ years of experience in a Product function within the financial services industry
  • 5+ years of successfully delivering business solutions and leading change
  • Extensive management consulting or business development experience preferred
  • A depth and breadth of knowledge on how S&P Dow Jones Indices operates including impactful trends and future direction of the core index, asset, wealth, and capital market industries preferred
Critical experiences:
  • Demonstrated experience championing organizational change initiatives - model right behaviors, create a shared sense of purpose, leadership, and accountability
  • Experience coaching, training, and facilitating leaders through business transformation
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural and cross-functional effectiveness - experience managing and collaborating with multiple teams, coordinating across different cross-functional initiatives, and reaching consensus with diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills in a team setting including extended teams where members are not always direct reports
