Job Description

Working in one of the Firms four multi-disciplinary workgroups, as a Tax Semi Senior/Senior. The role will include working with a team of Tax Supervisors and Managers and assisting with tax compliance services with some advisory work, for a portfolio ofhigh net worth clients and non-domiciled individuals.Client DetailsMy client provides accountancy, audit and tax services and strategic advice to private clients, companies, entrepreneurs and their businesses.At the core of the practice is a very personal, high level service to clients. They provide staff with the training and support necessary in order to achieve this. The culture of the firm is friendly and down to earth. Many of the Partners trained thereand many staff have dedicated their professional careers to the firm.They have a total staff complement of 155 people including 14 Partners.DescriptionThe role will encompass:

  • Preparing sometimes complex self-assessment tax returns, calculating tax liabilities, notifying clients of their tax liabilities and submitting tax returns to HMRC
  • Preparing schedules and supporting information for tax returns
  • Drafting correspondence with clients to remind them of outstanding information required and reminding them of potential penalty/interest surcharge implications as a result of late filings (if instructed by the Manager).
  • Research and drafting advice on a range of ad-hoc private client issues including international/non dom issues, IHT and CGT
  • Drafting correspondence with HMRC - both written and oral communication on enquiries, coding notices and other matters
  • Drafting correspondence with bankers and investment managers in relation to clients portfolios
  • Ensuring that all client files (electronic) are kept up to date with relevant documentation in the appropriate sections
  • Preparing engagement letters and client acceptance information
  • Assisting with billing
  • Adhering to budgets and deadlines and bringing matters to the attention of the Manager
  • Assisting with ad hoc matters such as research, as requested by the Tax Manager
ProfileCandidate requirements:
  • At least one years experience of personal tax. Familiarity and experience of offshore, residence and domicile issues, would be preferable.
  • ATT Qualified (or in study) or part CTA qualified
  • First class written and oral communication skills. Confident in dealing with HMRC, Bankers and Investment Managers etc, able to produce accurate, well presented schedules, e-mails and letters.
  • Able to prioritise workload and operate to deadlines
  • Well organised and client focused
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Experience of using CCH would be beneficial
  • Able to network and market effectively
  • Flexible working attitude. Must be able to work on a number of clients affairs at the same time and be prepared to work overtime as necessary during busy periods.

Job OfferSalary package: A competitive salary. Overtime will be paid.Annual salary review.Holidays: 21 days per year. The holiday year runs from 1 April to 31 March.Probationary Period: The first six months of your employment will be on a probationary basis.Pension: You will be automatically enrolled into a pension scheme at 3 months at contribution rates set by the Government.Study support: There will be Study support, to be agreed as appropriate, on an individual basis.
