JOB AD:Principal RF Antenna Design EngineerLondon/CambridgeWe have an exciting opportunity for a Principal RF Antenna Design Engineer to complement the existing design team. As a member of the Antenna Design Team, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, simulation and evaluation of Ku-Band and Ka-Band transmit and receive flat panel, electronically scanned phased array Antenna Boards.The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic London-based technology company developing and delivering complex and innovative products into the aerospace, maritime and land mobile industries.Responsibilities:Able to work with lead engineering teams to integrate the system and technology requirements into the antenna designContribute to the product development and hardware planning process through the use of continuous improvement programmes and by providing time and effort estimates to project plansStrongly self-motivated and able to take ownership of problems and finding solutions.Good communication skills, multi-disciplinary team working and ability to take ownership of varied project activities.Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time and build good working relationships with cross-functional team members and external departments, acting as a technical lead when required.Essential:A good first degree (BEng/MEng) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Physics or related subject, preferably specialising in antennas and EM propagation.At least five to eight years experience of RF and antenna design and measurement and +5 years industry experience in a development role.Proven experience in antenna design and product development covering a range of microwave frequencies. Experience with the characteristics and design of various antenna types.Solid understanding of antenna theory, phased array principles, and electronically steerable arrays. Ability to capture requirements and distil them into a written specification.Able to demonstrate a solid understanding of RF Antenna Design and modelling using tools such as HFSS and ADS; knowledge of HFSS Domain Decomposition Method a distinct advantage.Solid knowledge on EM theory and expertise with 2D/3D EM simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS; experience of using these tools in a Cloud based Computing Cluster would be an advantage.Competency to perform post-processing of data using tools such as MATLAB or Mathcad.Good knowledge of transmission line theory and impedance matching circuits.Hands-on experience performing S-parameter measurements using PNAs and antenna pattern measurements, using anechoic chambers in development lab environments.
