Job Description

Principal DevOps Engineer - AWS, CI/CD, Agile, REST, terraform, Chef, Docker++The roles are currently remote++Description for the Principal DevOps Engineer :- You will be joining a fast-growing, well funded, exciting tech stack software company with great opportunities for growth (research-driven company building an artificial intelligence using novel machine learning techniques). My client is revolutionising their industry with a track record of building things that others have ruled out as impossible. The Principal DevOps Engineer will join a very bright, talented team of engineers with the guidance of technologists who have help build up some of the best known technology companies today. You will work closely with the CTO and have a great opportunity to work with a variety of languages, frameworks and tools.The Principal DevOps Engineer will be responsible for the improvement, maintenance and quality of infrastructure and development pipelines. Contributing significantly in the transition towards increasingly microservice based architecture and coaching others in solid DevOps principles. The Principal DevOps Engineer will also maintain a working knowledge of the product codebase and contribute changes where required.Core skills for the Principal DevOps Engineer :

  • Solid commercial experience as a Principal / Lead DevOps Engineer
  • AWS services (EC2, Elasticache, RDS, CodePipeline etc).
  • Programming and/or scripting knowledge to confidently create and manage infrastructure as code.
  • Strong experience configuring and managing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery environments (e.g. Codebuild, Jenkins, TavisCI).
  • Excellent understanding of common *nix command line functionality.
  • An ability and desire to learn new skills quickly.
  • Genuine passion for diving into new technologies at the deep end (e.g. reading installation guides, engaging with OS communities, troubleshooting etc)
    • Preferred Skills for the Principal DevOps Engineer:
  • Skills as a developer in an OO language (e.g. Java, C#, C++)
  • Agile development (scrum, kanban, peer reviews etc).
  • A working knowledge of software security and common exploit methodologies.
  • REST
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tool chains (e.g. CDK, Terraform, Chef, Docker)
  • Experience creating automated test environments for JS based projects (React, Backbone.js, etc), CSS and HTML5
    • Salary for the Principal DevOps Engineer will depend on experience, but expect between £85,000 and £100,000 + Pension + benefitsOther benefits include:- Free breakfast and coffee, drinks and snacks all day/every day.
