Job Description

Principal Consultant - Health and Life SciencesWe are looking to recruit a Principal Consultant with consulting expertise in health policy or healthcare innovation to join our Health and Life Science Team. The team is delivering policy studies and evaluations relating to: biomedical research & innovation; global health research; healthy ageing; digital health; and innovation in medicine development.You will be working with the Groups Health and Life Science team, both in the UK and internationally, contributing to the sale and delivery of evaluations of R&D programmes, socio-economic impact assessments of public health legislations and policies, and innovation in health systems and services.The successful applicant will have demonstrated strong business acquisition and project management skills, analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, an ability to work effectively as a leader or a member of a multidisciplinary team, with a strong commitment to our core values of quality and integrity.A practical knowledge of evaluation principles and methods is essential.About TechnopolisTechnopolis Group is a leading international research and consulting organisation with offices throughout Europe and a growing business in West Africa and Latin America.Our main business is the conduct of policy studies, evaluations and socio-economic impact assessments for various regional, national and international organisations. We work across a number of policy areas, ranging from science and innovation to higher education, green economy and health and life sciences, with assignments typically lasting 12 months and being delivered by teams of 5-7 people. We collaborate with specialist consultancies and academic experts across the world.Clients are predominantly public or third sector and include UK Research & Innovation, the NIHR, Wellcome, Cancer Research UK, European Commission (DG SANTE), and other international funders and organisations (WHO). We have grown steadily over the past 30 years and are continuing to expand internationally, with around 200 consulting staff working across 12 offices, from London and Brighton in the UK to Vienna in Austria.The UK team of 40 consultants is continuing to expand in its core business areas of research, innovation, health, green economy and higher education, while also growing in several new policy domains.Focusing on the UK Health and Life sciences team, this is also expanding, delivering a growing number of R&D evaluations, regulatory impact assessments and strategic studies. The team is also doing more in several emerging fields, including: digital health, mental health and planetary healthYour profileWe are looking for someone with at least 5 years relevant project management experience, either in a consulting environment or an equivalent role in the charity sector, government department or related agency.More specifically, you must have: An academic background in health policy, health economics, public health or similar (Masters level) A thorough practical knowledge of current policies in health and life sciences An ability to propose, sell and lead / manage policy studies and evaluations A good command of qualitative and / or quantitative evaluation methods An ability to write well and to a professional standard, in English •Self-motivation, intellectual curiosity and an ability to work independently A willingness to travel and work in multi-disciplinary international teamsOther desirable attributes: Knowledge of emerging fields of digital health, mental health and planetary health An ability to interpret data, present and synthesise information from a variety of sources A proficient user of analysis packages, such as STATA or NVivo A high-level of proficiency in the manipulation of large, health-related data sets An understanding of theory-based or realist evaluation methods An ability to prioritise and multi-task, and work under strict deadlines Excellent oral communication skills Proficiency in an additional European languageWe are always pleased to hear from international candidates, however you must have the right to work in the UK already.
