Job Description

KS1 TeacherLewisham ASAP StartAn outstanding special needs school in Lewisham is recruiting a full time SEN Teacher to start ASAP. You will be required to work Monday to Friday from now until the end of the academic year. For the right candidate, there may be the opportunity of a contractin the new academic year.The school caters for pupils aged 4-19 with an EHCP for Autism and complex needs. They have a strong academic focus; however, they also wish to develop students independence in a fun and nurturing way.The shortlisted candidate will teach in a KS1 class of 9 students. Students are of varied ability with most working towards the schools middle pathway. An Early Years background within a SEND school is preferred; however, the school are open to lookingat UK trained primary teachers with a keen interest in SEND. You will be responsible for all planning, assessments and report writing. Experience with PECs and Makaton would be advantageous.To be considered for this role you must have:

  • QTS or QTLS
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Valid DBS/Police Checks
  • Proven child-related experience
  • Knowledge of SEND and previous SEND experience or a willingness to learn
  • Effective classroom management, curriculum knowledge, and good communication skills
  • Adaptable and flexible personality
