Job Description

Senior Pricing AnalystLondon, EC3M 3BDQBE’s European Operations, which accounts for over 27% of QBE Group turnover, is a leading specialist in London market and European commercial lines business. We are a socially responsible company and give our customers the ability to invest a portion of their premiums in environmentally and socially beneficial projects.The Opportunity:We are looking for a Senior Pricing Analyst / Pricing Actuary to take on ownership for a class of business within the Insurance Division. This will involve:

  • Managing and driving the successful delivery of pricing models within your business line
  • Supporting the business in providing case pricing expertise to assist and influence underwriting decisions
  • Working with the relevant underwriters and data scientists to assess where pricing models and methods can be improved and drive the delivery of these improvements
  • As a Senior Pricing Analyst / Pricing Actuary you will form an integral part of this new & evolving team, which provides support to the entire Insurance business.Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:
  • Plan and manage delivery of pricing tools, engaging underwriting business owners to assist in successful delivery of tools
  • Own and drive a vision for your line of business, assessing the areas for which improvements can be made and helping scope projects to deliver these
  • Lead the delivery of projects relating to your line of business, which will involve management of relevant stakeholders and in some cases, collaboration with the Data Science team
  • Deliver pricing analysis to ensure business decisions are made with the best possible quantitative information and advice, supporting the business objectives
  • Represent your line of business at appropriate pricing meetings to present on pricing model review and project progress
  • Review monthly benchmarking and rate monitoring metrics for your business line
  • Develop pricing MI and other metrics to review portfolio performance
  • Collaborate effectively with external and internal stakeholders related to your business line such as actuaries’, underwriters, data scientists and portfolio managers across QBE to identify and share new techniques, sources of data, expertise and business opportunities
  • Provide input to business plans, applying knowledge of business performance, trends and driving factors to assist Strategic Actuarial colleagues in the business plan process
  • Communicate results in a clear and relevant way, so that effective and timely decisions can be made
  • Coach and support junior members of the pricing team
  • You will need to be able to demonstrate the following qualities and abilities:
  • Degree qualified or equivalent, with a strong mathematical component, and bringing proven knowledge of techniques of statistical and numerical analysis, applied to business decision making
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of software and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Power BI and Visual Basic is advantageous
  • Experience of Emblem (or alternative GLM modelling software) and Radar is advantageous
  • Ability to engage collaboratively with stakeholders bringing a range of business perspectives
  • Effective communication with the ability to persuade and influence both directly and indirectly. Good written and presentational skills.
