Job Description

Wehave an exciting opportunityavailable for a Postdoctoral Fellowto join one of the world’s leading research Institutes at a crucial time in its evolution, and play a definitive role in shaping it for the future. You will join us on afull-time,fixed term, 4-year contractandin return, you will receive a competitive salary starting from£41,935 per annumwith benefits, subject to skills and experience.ThePostdoctoral Fellowrole:As aPostdoctoral Fellow, you will lead their own projects, contribute to other projects on a collaborative basis (both in the lab and with external collaborators) and may guide PhD students in their research.Responsibilities of ourPostdoctoral Fellow:

  • Leading their own research in an independent, organised and ambitious manner
  • Compiling and analysing their data into publication-quality formats for sharing through research presentations and publications
  • Contributing to a positive working lab environment, including shared lab management and admin duties, helping others with their research and promoting a friendly and supportive atmosphere
  • Driving their own professional development, by engaging with the community, pursuing new training opportunities and learning new techniques
Skills and experience we are looking for in our Postdoctoral Fellow:Essential
  • PhD in Biology/Genetics/Development or similar, or in the final stages of PhD submission
  • Solid background, knowledge of and experience with PGCs or germ cells
  • Technical expertise in stem cell culture, particularly mouse or human embryonic stem cells
  • Track record of writing papers as evidenced by publications or submitted manuscripts in refereed journals
  • Evidence of data presentation at scientific meetings
  • Ability to work independently and interacting within a group
Desirable
  • Experience in research with 3D cellular models such as organoids and gastruloids
  • Experience in mouse embryology and animal handling
  • Experience in CRISPR techniques and genetic editing
  • Familiarity with single-cell transcriptomics and epigenetic analysis and bioinformatic interpretation
  • Experience teaching others e.g. supervising students or visiting researchers
