Job Title: Portfolio Strategy DirectorLocation: Home basedSalary: CompetitiveContract Type: PermanentHours: 37.5About the role:As part of the Senior Leadership team, this role works with the Executive Director of Property & Assets to develop and deliver a comprehensive, holistic portfolio strategy for Anchor Hanover.This is a significant and high-profile leadership role within Anchor Hanover. It brings together existing activities in asset investment strategy, estates management and strategic programmes, but will also need to build additional capabilities so we canidentify latent value and commercial opportunities, and develop and deliver an effective, consistent portfolio strategy.The role will need to work closely with the Executive Board and the Operational Business to develop and agree the approach to portfolio strategy and agree timescales and financial objectives for the transformation of the portfolio.The role will also work closely with the Property Delivery team, Health & Building Safety, Sustainability, Finance and many other teams across the organisation to ensure that the strategy and policies fully align with the objectives of Anchor Hanover.About you:To be successful in this role, you will have:Strong business, commercial and financial acumen, able to effectively manage budgets.Good experience in leading the preparation of portfolio and property strategies, with an excellent understanding of feasibility studies and financial analysis of options. Strong understanding of cashflow analysis and the ability to scope, interrogate andinterpret the options appraisal process, and generate sound risk-based recommendations and decisions.Able to see the big picture, while taking a pragmatic approach to supporting business needs.Ability to create and deliver complex strategic transformation programmes across property portfolios on time and within financial constraints.Proven ability to identify and realise commercial opportunities within a portfolio.Leadership experience - establishing and leading effective and motivated multi-disciplinary professional teams across a wide geographyProven ability in handling complex stakeholder and customer sensitivities.A background in housing is preferable but not essential.Member of professional estates body e.g. RICS, RIBA, RTPI. qualification (e.g. MRICS).This role requires at least 10 years experience in a portfolio strategy role with at least 5 at a senior, leadership level, with a good understanding of operational property matters.About UsAnchor Hanover began more than 50 years ago and today is Englands largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life.It provides retirement housing to rent and to buy, retirement villages and residential care homes, including specialist dementia care.
