Job Description

Ground-breaking policy opportunities dont come along very often, but the National Centre for Universities and Businesss (NCUB) Policy and Engagement team is potentially offering the perfect role.Youd be joining the NCUB at an exciting time in our development as we take on new analytical work and start the process of establishing a new insights service: NCUB Analytics.The role The Policy Analyst will play a key role in the delivery of NCUB Analytics, which will help leaders and policymakers access new and real-time data on the UKs research talent, capabilities and investments using modern technology in new and innovative waysto develop evidence and underpin policy.Youll also monitor statistical updates, such as the labour market, research and innovation data from the ONS, and data releases by the Higher Education Statistical Agency and UCAS.The candidate Youll also play an integral role in NCUBs research projects, supporting the collection and analysis of evidence and recommending existing sources of data, undertaking literature reviews and sharing insights across the team. Youll also help commissionresearch and analysis from external academics, consultancies and others, and work closely with the Lead Analyst in a number of exciting areas.This is a busy, demanding role, and the successful candidate will have a degree in statistics or a related subject (or equivalent experience), offer proficiency in Excel and SPSS and/or STATA, expertise in statistical methods and knowledge of social sciencedata sources and the ability to monitor statistical releases.Youll be able to identify and interpret statistical trends and relationships, act with initiative, identify interesting research questions and design suitable ways of gathering and collecting evidence.The National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB) is an independent think-tank and registered charity focused on making the UK the best place in the world for universities and businesses to collaborate.
