Job Description

PMO Manager - (Digital, Government, GDS)This is a fully remote position! As part of Triad Group Plcs on-going collaboration with a large Central Government department, we are seeking a PMO Manager to lead its Portfolio Office.You will be accountable to produce reports and be the gatekeeper of the portfolio and delivery pipeline.You will work with the team to define and maintain the standards for digital delivery and project management within the department. This will include the implementation and sharing of best practice, as well as the development and application of digital and project procedures, tools, and techniques to standardise methodologies and realise economies where possible.ResponsibilitiesAs the PMO Manager, you will provide expert guidance, support and insight on the portfolio and act as the source of all project information and metrics:

  • Reporting:Accountable for the creation of reports and of maintaining and presenting portfolio reports to the portfolio board.
  • Project Pipeline:You will work with the business to create and maintain criteria for the portfolio.
  • Governance & Reporting:Establish and maintain a clear governance framework and reporting regime aligned to management of portfolios best practice and departmental frameworks.
  • Standards & Templates:Assure, catalogue, and maintain the standard documentation including but not limited to packs and reports.
  • Delivery & Leadership:You will lead the PMO team to support the portfolio, provide insight and champion the use of best practice digital and project management standards and processes.
  • Risks & Issues:You will establish and maintain the project processes and standards for managing risks and issues across the portfolio.
  • Governance & Assurance:You will assure that appropriate governance is in place for projects and that external reviews (e.g. GDS Reviews) at appropriate points in the project lifecycle are in place.
  • Monitoring:You will monitor the effectiveness of controls and ensure that recommendations from internal and external reviews are logged and acted upon by teams.
  • Skills & Experience Required
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of managing PMOs in a complex environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and have the ability to critically evaluate information gathered across multiple sources, reconcile variances, and recommend improvements.
  • Experience in producing management information packs for internal and external stakeholders. In particular, create and maintain PowerBI reports and Dashboards, delivering them to senior leaders.
  • Waterfalland Agile project/programme delivery experience. Particularly, experience of Digital Delivery in government.
  • Line management experience.
  • Evidence of strong stakeholder engagement skillswith a proven track record of engaging and managing multiple stakeholders, tailoring messages appropriately, influencing others and gaining their agreement and co-operation.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to form well-thought-out conclusions and recommendations.
  • Experience in conducting quality assurance and health check assessments of projects and holding Project Managers and 3rd party suppliers to account.
  • Experience of the establishment and maintenance of governance processes.
  • Hold a relevant PM qualification (such as APM, Agile, Prince2) as well as a relevant portfolio or risk qualifications (MoR or MoP).
