You will be a key part of the establishment and operation of bank wide automation technologies.You will be a strong advocate for, and help support the delivery of, the Banks core platforms: •Migration to new Bank data centres - a hyper-converged private cloud•Migration of applications to the public cloud•The expansion of our next generation data analytics platform•Renewal of the Bankss flagship critical payments system•Development of a user-centric supervision systemYou will champion continuous delivery in software engineering through:•A real passion for technology and interest into industry trends (technology, methods and tooling)•The use of Agile delivery methods•Dev/Ops practices, including embedding such practices within other Technology delivery domains•Assisting with a programme of re-skilling through the wider organisation•Experimenting through Hackathons, accelerators, competitions, and proofs of concept•Partnering with creative 3rd parties•Being highly considerate to the cultural investment needed to ensure successAs a senior expert within the team you will:•Possess contemporary industry knowledge, gravitas and the influencing skills required to engage, influence and challenge senior stakeholders•Develop a strong internal network, as well as strong strategic external and vendor relationships•Support & collaborate with your immediate peer group providing domain expertise•Actively represent the Bank of England at sector-wide events •Share information regularly, transparently and effectively•Empower, support and mentor team members•Champion an inclusive environment where everyone can be their whole selves and produce their best workRole Requirements•Working with Engineering colleagues, deliver build and upgrade of software platforms and services through automation and configuration management.•Partner closely with domain teams to enable different software platforms for Cloud use.•Deliver the dev/ops toolchain required to support continuous delivery.•Enable continuous integration and continuous deployment processes (CI/CD).•Deliver mechanisms for automated scaling of services.•Deliver automated platform recovery, including cross site failover.•Ensure security compliance mechanisms in place as part of virtual platform engineering.•Lead automated testing for virtual platforms.•Take responsibility for key Cloud technology vendor relationships.•Ensure alignment between the Digital Platforms division, the Technology directorate, and the wider Bank.•Provide strong operational management and ensure ongoing protection and availability of all digital services. •Manage technical issues, risks, audit and compliance obligations, and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are in place and delivered.Technical Responsibilities•Act as front door for UCSD requests and issues, responsible for triage and prioritisation•Perform root cause investigation and resolution of workflow failures to improve success rate of builds•Asses feature requests as they come in against current UCSD aims•Assist with the transition of the current UCSD deployment in favour of a more robust and unified industry standard solution •Manage releases of TFS code into UCSD environments as needed following Bank change guidelines and process•Liaise with Banks external partner for agreed updates and downtime to the UCSD platformHave a good understanding of:•Data Centre Networking with Cisco APIC and MSO•Linux and Windows platforms across development and operations•Experience and fast adoption of industry recognized ways of working including but not limited to Agile, automation deployment as well as having the capability and recognition of the value of providing fast feedback•Automated testing practices, e.g. Test Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) and Acceptance Test Driven Development•Scripting/deployment technologies such as - AnsibleBashJavaScriptPowerShellPython•Assist in integrating UCSD with industry standard solutions for infrastructure deployment to align with the engineerings team goals•Experience with a repo/release technology like TFS/Azure DevOps•Add Github Enterprise eg:•Azure DevOps (TFS)•GitHub EnterpriseMinimum Criteria• Broad technical expertise spanning operating systems, programming la
