About Counter Avoidance (CA) Counter-Avoidance (CA) is a directorate within HMRC, responsible for tackling marketed tax avoidance both operationally and through policy change. Since the directorate was formedin 2014, we have collected billions for the Exchequer from settlements of marketed tax avoidance. We work alongside our own and HMRCs Policy teams in real-time to develop, draft and implement new legislation and new ways of working to respond quickly totackle new and evolving forms of tax avoidance. The Directorate currently employs around 1300 staff of various grades and will see expansion and growth into 2022. Having recently adopted a new organisational design to work in regional teams and to deliveragainst a stretching, innovative and customer centric vision, you will be joining us at an exciting time in challenging uses of tax avoidance.Job descriptionAs we rapidly advance towards PowerBi as being one of our main Reporting Tools, this is an excitingopportunity to use your PowerBi skills in a new environment developing multiple reports using a variety of measures. Within the Directorate of 1300 staff, the Planning, Performance and Data Team which consists of 20 colleagues, has responsibility for coveringdifferent aspects of work, providing a variety of involvement in an interesting and evolving area. This will include analysing data, providing reports and forecasts to the Directorate Senior Leadership Team to aid decision making and planning. The team alsohas responsibility for the management of resourcing, including paybill forecasting and recruitment. You will be a key player and contributor to all of our functions. We work in a flexible, fast changing environment, working at pace and are always supportiveof our colleagues. There will be opportunities to excel as well as to apply your extensive knowledge of PowerBi in assisting HMRC with addressing key business issues and to design better services. In addition, we have a strong team working ethos and offerflexible and alternative working patterns in an inclusive and respectful environment.ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities As a Planning, Performance & Data Analyst your role will include: Using PowerBi and other software products as necessary to extract,manipulate data sources, design, build and present reports for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). Commissioning, analysing, and extracting the Directorates Planning and Performance data. This requires a high level of confidence with Microsoft Excel and Wordtools and working at pace to tight deadlines. Building positive business relationships with a wide range of people, including internal customers and business stakeholders. Be articulate and credible at all levels, to consistently deliver accurate reporting/ dashboards at a high standard and sometimes under pressure. Supporting and contributing to the tasks of Work Leads for Business Planning, Performance, Workforce Planning and Recruitment, Benefits, Finance. This will include articulating their key priorities,helping them to plan ways to drive forward initiatives and submit all required reports accurately and on time. Attending relevant meetings, ensuring all actions are implemented. Ensuring relevant stakeholders are briefed appropriately. Drafting communicationson behalf of the Work Leads, ensuring tone and style are appropriate and consistent with their views and meet the needs of the intended audience. Tracking deadlines, action points from multiple meetings and groups, following through to ensure outputs aredelivered on time, minimising surprises, and anomalies. Being an active team player by proactively contributing to your wider team to build a culture where colleagues feel valued, supported, and confident to challenge. Essential Criteria Solid experienceand competence of building PowerBi reports and communicating data through PowerBi. Experienced user of MS Product sets including O365, Teams, Excel, Word and Power Point Strong verbal and written communication skills.
