Job Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Check RFI and competence documents are sufficient prior to being entered onto the system including but not limited to company insurances, address, website, & user email addresses
  • Accept back all completed Permits and close from the system.
  • Maintain suitable and sufficient processes and filing systems to ensure a clear audit trail is in place for all Permits.
  • Arrange for periodic system audits to ensure continued effectiveness of the PTW System.
  • Undertake a number of checks on all works across the campus requesting and visually checking the PTW documentation, and adherence to the method statements and risk assessments, safe systems of work and PPE.
  • Monitor the system data (eg locations, assets etc) are maintained and to arrange for the periodic data cleanse of redundant information.
  • Chase e-permit approvals to help ensure permits are approved on time
  • Where necessary attend project meetings to understand job and permit/isolation requirements.
  • When permits have been submitted, ensure that any isolations permits have been requested, including fire isolations, sprinkler impairments, electrical isolations and mechanical isolations.
  • Check where applicable that all medium to high risk works within the portfolio are subject to a task specific Permit
  • To ensure all Sub-Contractors under direct control are fully inducted before any activities are carried out on site
  • Vet all Method statements and Risk Assessment for all activities being undertaken
  • Check the competency of all sub-contractors is in place and relevant to the permitted works taking place.
  • Ensure monitoring of subcontractors and that all works comply to Method Statements and Risk Assessment
  • To assist the Health and Safety Manager in monitoring of site personnel and external subcontractors in regards to safe systems of work being complied with
  • To ensure that the relevant manager is informed that the subcontractors are onsite and ready to carry out required tasks.
  • To ensure any subcontractor working out of hours or at weekend is fully authorised, ie inducted and have the required MSRA in place.
  • Print and issue permits on time
  • Check and approve H&S permit content not authorise
  • Assist with any permits changes to the e-permit system to accommodate projects
    • Requirements:
  • Looking at the more experienced individual.
  • Good communicator and MS Office skills.
  • Experience of e-ptw - Banyards or others.
  • Electrical & Mechanical systems experience within a critical building environment.
  • Understands operational risk for SPIE and the customer.
  • Awareness of compliance aspects of engineering delivery.
