Role: Pensions Manager/Trustee Governance ManagerContracting Authority: Network RailContract Length: 6 monthsLocation: Waterloo General Offices, London, SE1 8SWSecurity Clearance: DBS• Acting as Company secretary for x 2 pension schemes - arranging meetings, minutes at board level, liaising with advisors• Legislation and regulatory requirements• Liaise with external advisors to trustee board• Liaison with in house pension team• Very large project at present to dela with• No line managementTechnology - Using excel, word outlook , board intelligence app, Client1. Provide interpretation and application of pensions legislation and regulation, utilising up to date knowledge and awareness of pensions market issues in order to enable efficient and sustainable pensions scheme support for the organisation and the membersof the schemes.2. Manage the administration service providers of the Network Rail pension schemes by proactively liaising to collaboratively resolve issues and escalate when required so that services are delivered in accordance with service level agreements.3. Develop and implement effective pension communication strategies, including maintenance of pensions information on all Network Rail on-line portals, and preparation and delivery of pension-related presentations to Network Rail employees, providing the mostup to date information.4. Manage and guide the pensions and administration team so that information being given is accurate, in compliance with legislation, and is provided with the levels of good customer service expected; effectively managing complex, sensitive and confidentialissues escalated from the pensions team.5. Provide support and guidance on pension queries for the wider HR community to deliver a consistent approach to employees in relation to pension matters.6. Deliver complex pension related projects and a portfolio of lower complexity projects in a manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with applicable Network Rail company standards, current legislation and procedures.7. Provide secretariat and administrative services for trustee and sub-committee meetings, including agreeing meeting agendas with the relevant Chair, preparing and distributing agendas and all supporting documentation; minute-taking; following up on actionpoints; maintaining the trustees’ business plan and risk registers; arranging new trustee inductions, recording that all mandatory and professional training requirements are complied with.• Experience of detailed minutes• Understand complex pension discussion around investments, funding and regulatory changes• Experience of scheme secretary/ pensions manager• Detailed understanding of defined benefit and defined pension contribution schemes• Understanding of pension scheme investment strategies• Able to liaise and work with senior directors• Project management experience• Desirable - qualification - PMI (pensions management institution)• Inhouse or with pensions consultancy companyEssential• Proven successful pensions management experience of Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution schemes• Appropriate professional qualification or equivalent experience• Successful experience in advising senior management on pensions strategy and information• Demonstrable very strong communication (oral and written), negotiation, organisational and governance skills• Excellent stakeholder engagement, which should include: customers, 3rd party representatives, other business and functional leaders, and key support personnel.Desirable• Educated to degree level• Experience of complex problem solving in a financial environment• Experience of administration, investment and finance relating to pensions• Experience of interaction with employee representative bodies and external stakeholders
