We are currently working with a large City based US law firm who wish to hire a Payroll Assistant to join their busy Payroll team to support their London office of over 400 staff.They are keen to hire an interim Payroll Assistant on a minimum 6-month FTC fulltime basis, working 9.30am to 5.30pm, on an agile working basis of 3 days in the office and 2 remotely. The firm are prepared to offer a generous salary of £35,000 - £40,000pro rata and a range of benefits. The Payroll Assistant will have experience using Sage Payroll, ideally from the legal sector and have hands on payroll accounting experience.Reporting into the Payroll Specialist duties include; Sorting with the processing new starters, leavers and salary deductions Assisting with calculating salary increases, back-pay, holiday, sick and maternity pay Assisting with collating and processing monthly overtime sheets Maintain accurate records for all employee payments eg. season tickets, cycle to work scheme, loans Update P11D database annually with employee benefits amounts. Preparing to move this function to payroll on a monthly basis. Supporting with chasing line managers for missing information where necessary Liaise with HMRC where necessary Assisting with resolving payroll related queries, dealing with access to payroll portal Monthly filing of hard copies/electronic copies of all paperwork Auto Enrolment: Working in conjunction with HR. Ensuring compliance with the Pension auto-enrolment regulations (the payroll software calculates eligibility), advising staff on contribution levels and liaising with the pension provider in relation to contributionpayments, etc;- updating and importing monthly payroll contributions to pension portal Assisting with twice monthly "dummy" payroll and associated journals Assisting with month end and year end routines Assisting with general reconciliations where required Assist with statutory year end returns and P60s. Candidates will possess; Excellent working knowledge of Sage Payroll and advanced Excel knowledge Demonstrable experience/knowledge of statutory legislation relating to PAYE/NIC and Statutory Payments
