Job Description

My client is a well regarded, long established law firm operating in the Intellectual Property space with a number of offices in the UK & Europe, their main site is in London. They offer a good work-life balance, flexible working, generous benefits and a commitment to championing environmentalissues, there is also fantastic culture of transparency and openness.*********Hybrid Working Model - London or Oxford Based*********They are on the hunt for a skilled Patent Search Manager who will have a superb opportunity to be part of the continued success of the organisation by managing a range of patent search-related services on behalf of fee earners and clients.Managing Client Searches which are mostly outsourced, completing search-related activities to support Fee Earners in their work and identifying opportunities to expand client service offerings, they envisage the role will evolve over time as these optionsare developed.The Role

  • Undertaking Novelty and Freedom to Operate searches
  • Gathering Client-specific competitor intelligence such as search and review of competitors patents, competitor alert services, evidence of use searches, typically for patent infringement, monitoring specific cases and file wrapper reviews
  • Landscape searches
  • Sourcing documents, journal references, library books and machine translations.
  • Coordinating work completed by external providers, developing strong working partnerships along the way
About YouMy client is open to the background of their ideal candidate, your experience of managing and coordinating searches may have been gained in private practice or in industry, perhaps in an Information Scientist role or similar, they are also keen to considerindividuals seeking a career change such as a qualified or part-qualified Patent Attorney.
  • Have a degree in a technical subject combined with experience of managing and coordinating patent searches
  • You will have analysed and summarised patent search results for expert and less experienced audiences
  • Commercially savvy, able to seek opportunities to expand the contribution made by the Search function
  • Direct experience of conducting searches is desirable but not essential, it may be you may have managed others to do this
  • If you have used patent search tools and platforms, this would be helpful but is not a deal breaker
