Job Description

Pastoral and Safeguarding Lead- Fixed Term Contract Start Date: January 2023 or soonerSalary: £24,270 per annumLocation: NewhamAre you looking for a step up into leadershipAre you passionate about supporting students and enabling them to effectively learn and developA great secondary school based in Newham is seeking a Pastoral and Safeguarding lead to join them from January 2023 or sooner until the end of the academic year.About the school: This school is an all through school, providing a world- class education for children cross East London and the secondary phase is heavily oversubscribed. The school has set ambitious academic standards backed up by exciting enrichment opportunities, whilstnurturing and caring for the wellbeing of all children. The school has recently opened a sixth form and is looking to reach full capacity of students by 2024.The school is part of a trust which has a passionate belief that by offering young people an outstanding range of opportunities they will discover what they can excel at and transform their life chances.The trust has 4 key values they promote across their schools: Aspirations- always aiming high, Ambition- Being the best we can be, Courage- Nothing holds us back and Respect- Always leading by Example.The role: Role and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with individuals or groups of children who are experiencing difficulties with emotional literacy or other aspects of school or home life.
  • Plan and deliver motivating individualised programmes of support for children to develop their emotional literacy skills and emotional well-being, including: awareness of own and other peoples emotions, development of an increased range of emotional vocabulary,management of stress, grief, anger and conflict, development of social interaction skills, development of the ability to initiate and maintain friendships, promotion of a realistic self-concept and good self-esteem.
  • To establish supportive, caring and secure relationships with children, and to be available to offer individual support and someone for a child to talk to.
  • To create, develop and produce resources for use with intervention programmes, as appropriate.
  • Working with children and families to promote emotional resilience.
The right candidate must:
  • Have HLTA status or equivalent qualifications or experience
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills or equivalent to NVQ Lvl 2 in English and Maths
  • First Aid Qualification
  • Team Teach Qualification
  • Ability to work on own initiative and under supervision.
  • Shows commitment to the safeguarding of children.
  • Is highly motivated, flexible and a team player, ability to motivate self and others to achieve change.
  • Ability to maintain accurate written records and produce concise and informative reports
