Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a nearly or Fully Diploma Level qualified Paraplanner for a Principal Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management based in Barbican, London on a full time basis.Role OverviewWorking in a small team environment, working directly with either one or two Senior Partners (Financial Advisors), the Paraplanner shall provide full technical support to the team in terms of technical meeting preparation, and Suitability Letter writing for all transfer, replacement and new business cases, drawdowns, drawdown reviews, protection and EIS/VCT letters.This role would be particularly suited to someone seeking a long-term career as a Paraplanner, and shall be Part or Fully Diploma level 4 qualified (DipPFS), with a view to working towards completing the Pension Transfer exam.The Paraplanner shall also act as the Partner Sales Support Manager, managing junior members of the team, ensuring that all compliance requirements are adhered to.Role ContentThe Paraplanner role will compile of a mix of Technical and Administrative duties including (but not exclusively) the following:Role requirements

  • Supporting and managing the existing Junior Partner Sales Support (PSS) staff
  • Managing Letters of Authority to issued process with Junior PSS staff
  • Creating and managing all Voyant plans
  • Management and planning of client reviews
  • Creating investment and financial planning reports
  • Creating FE Analytics reports
  • High level of QOD (quality of documentation scoring) within 12 months in role
  • Creating protection recommendations for both new and existing clients
  • Managing protection applications through to policy issue
  • Preparation of all Suitability letters, including transfer/replacement, new business, drawdown, drawdown reviews, protection and EIS/VCT letters.
  • Full review of client file and detailed technical meeting preparation; investment research, analytics and preparing proposed advice structure with business owner, ahead of client meetings
  • Keeping up to date with all regulatory and financial market/industry changes.
  • Providing a personalised and professional service internally and externally at all times.
  • Technical requirements
  • Completion of Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS) or near completion.
  • Essential to have completed R05 - Protection exam
  • Voyant & FE analytics experience highly desirable
  • Previous experience working in a similar Paraplanning role
  • Suitability report writing experience - Pensions, Investments & Protection
  • Preparing Critical Yield Calculations (CYC)
  • Highly computer literate, excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Administration
  • Preparing a compliant CFR
  • Management and close monitoring of work in progress/business issued for team.
  • Keeping day-to-day tasks up to date on task system and actioning as appropriate.

  • Additional Information
  • Salary: £35-45k per annum pro-rata (salary based on qualifications and experience)
  • Bonus: Discretionary bonus payable linked to individual and company KPIs.
  • Location: London, EC2V (Barbican)
  • Hours of work: 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day flexible between 8am - 4.00pm or 9am - 5.00pm (recognition that extra hours may be required during peak times such as tax year end).
  • Start date: January 2021
  • Pension: Auto-enrolment pension scheme
  • Holiday: 20 days per annum, raising to 25 days post one full year in service.
