Job Description

Our client, a law enforcement organisation are looking to recruit a Paralegal / Investigator. In recruiting for this role, we are seeking a candidate who has legal experience and ambitions to pursue a legal career, whether that is a training contract orpupillage.

  • Location:Flexible working, hybrid with offices based in Central London (Embankment).
  • Hours:Full-time, Monday to Friday, 36hrs
  • Pay Rate:£18.80ph
  • Start Date:ASAP (pending a security clearance which can take up to four weeks prior to starting)
  • Duration:6 months with possibility of an extension
Key responsibilities:
  • Assisting senior investigators in ad hoc investigative tasks, including, but not limited to identification and compilation of evidence, reviewing and summarising large amounts of key information accurately and succinctly for consideration by other membersof the team, including the Principal Investigator.
  • Dealing with correspondence with multiple defence firms/third parties and managing the process.
  • Participating in case conferences, team meetings, meetings with counsel and attending court.
  • Conducting any necessary legal research and providing legal support to the Prosecutor.
  • Reviewing material seized during searches and preparing descriptions of relevant content for evidential purposes.
  • Assisting lawyers in complying with the SFOs disclosure obligations and with case preparations in general.
  • Assisting the lawyers in preparation for court hearings, preliminary hearings ranging to trials.
Skills required:
  • Works well under pressures and to tight deadlines.
  • Uses their initiative and can think on their feet.
  • Relevant legal qualification (e.g. law degree or post graduate diploma in law) or experience working as an investigator / paralegal.
  • Proficient user of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Relevant work experience in criminal litigation, including fraud or bribery and corruption cases.
  • Familiarity with the Criminal Justice System and Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act 1996.
