Job Description

Seeking three paralegals to assist with an AML Enforcement investigation for a 6 Temporary month contract. Project Wainfleet is civil/regulatory investigation into whether a financial institution breached the Money Laundering Regulations by failing to implement and maintain a robust financial crime framework.The paralegals to will join an FCA Enforcement team to assist in a disclosure exercise. A working knowledge of the disclosure regime essential as only training specific to the case and the relevant FCA’s systems/processes will be given.The role is likely to include some or all of the following tasks:

  • Assisting the investigation team in review of evidence, document analysis and initial classification of documents for relevance and disclosure;
  • Producing disclosure schedules for civil/regulatory proceedings;
  • Assisting the investigation team in ensuring that case files and records are accurately and efficiently maintained, including document scheduling, archiving and retrieval and appropriate use of Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) document management procedures;
  • Conducting timely and accurate document preparation (e.g. disclosure bundles) including collation, pagination, labelling and listing;
  • Conducting general administrative tasks relating to the investigation.
  • Minimum:
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in law.
  • A minimum of two year’s contentious Paralegal experience.
  • A minimum of two year’s experience of analysing large volumes of information accurately and ability to produce accurate and detailed summary descriptions
  • Essential:
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Experience of document management on large and complex cases including use of an e-discovery platform;
  • Highly developed organisational and administrative skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining accuracy;
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities;
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team, valuing different perspectives and backgrounds;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent IT skills, including sound knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook; and
  • An understanding of what confidential material is and how to handle it.
