Job Description

About our clientOur client is an independent, London-based private equity firm that invests in management buyouts across the UK lower mid-market. They have a long and successful track record investing up to £20m in UK based SMEs, partnering with founders and management teamsto grow and develop businesses into larger, higher quality, market or sector-leading companies. Their experienced and dynamic team are all based in London, although they invest right across the UK. With a growing portfolio and active deal pipeline, they are looking to add ambitious, high-quality individuals to their team who has proven origination skillsand understanding of their market segment in the UK. What the job involves

  • Conducting comprehensive research and analysis on a range of sub-sectors, including market sizing, competitive landscape, trends, and key players.
  • Performing market mapping and identifying potential investment targets.
  • Supporting the team with the research process, including conducting industry and market analyses, building company lists and assessing potential investment targets and supporting the investment team with due diligence as required.
  • Stay on top of industry trends and competitor activity, and providing regular updates to the investment team.
  • Contribute to the development of the investment thesis and growth strategies for potential acquisitions, including identifying key value drivers and potential risks.
  • Produce high-quality written research reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external consultants, industry experts and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the wider investment team with ad hoc research requests and projects.
Who we are looking for
  • Strong academic background in a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, desirable if within private equity.
  • Excellent research skills with the ability to gather, analyse and synthesise information from multiple sources.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Sharp analytical mind with the ability to think critically and provide valuable insights.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
  • Grounding in M&A and private equity, and demonstrable ability to perform outside-in analysis of companies.
  • Quick learner with the ability to understand the key dynamics of a private equity fund.
