Job Description

Operations Security Manager - Central London with Flexible workingWe are delighted to bring to market an exclusive role with a truly fantastic client in central London. With current remote working options which will become a flexible working setup post Covid. We are looking an experienced Operations Security Manager to help develop a new security operations centre to deliver a range of security services across the organisation including, but not limited to, threat and vulnerability management, security monitoring and alerting, security incident response, intrusion detection, penetration testing and security engineering. This is a role that requires someone capable of delivering from day 1 that has previous experience of leading the security management from inception to delivery.Main duties and responsibilities

  • Build strong, collaborative partnerships with the organisations technology teams to ensure that security technologies and services are embedded internally across technical architecture and processes.
  • Develop and lead a centre of excellence for technical security.
  • Provide a range of technical security services, either in person or through external suppliers, including threat and vulnerability management, security monitoring, intrusion detection, penetration testing and security engineering to IT Services and Faculties.
  • Manage a security operations service providing 24/7 security network monitoring for network and systems.
  • Develop and implement an engagement model with IT Services teams to integrate technical security operations into BAU and Change activities, ensuring that security is built into systems infrastructure.
  • Lead the security response to incidents. Manage security recovery events, under pressure, with technology staff (and sometimes vendors) until services are recovered and secure.
  • Run playbook scenarios, in conjunction with IT Services, to plan and rehearse effective incident response.
  • Establish threat intelligence processes to ensure that technical vulnerabilities and security notifications are correlated and escalated to the appropriate technical teams for response and remediation.
  • Work with the Information Security Manager and IT Services to ensure that potential threats are identified and addressed expediently.
  • Ensure technical security risks are raised and managed in the risk register.
  • Manage operational security services delivered by 3rd party suppliers.
  • Analyse and interpret complex technical information to identify patterns and trends, root causes and causal links.
  • Work with Change teams to facilitate secure delivery of changes.
  • Plan, prioritise and conduct cost analysis for future technical services and tooling to deliver the security strategy and roadmap.
  • Provide line management for one or more security team members. Mentor and coach more junior colleagues and provide support to peers.
  • Contribute strategic technical input into the overall information security strategy and roadmap.
    • What we are looking for
  • Previous experience in an Operational Security management role or senior lead role will be essential.
  • Strong knowledge or certification in a security related subject i.e., CISSP, CISM, CISA, CISM or similar.
  • Experience working in a large, complex organisation including incident management and use of common technical and organisational security controls.
  • Experience leading the response to security incidents and managing them to conclusion.
  • Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of threat and vulnerability management techniques and tools
  • Strong knowledge of operational security management processes across multiple platforms.
  • In depth knowledge of enterprise architectures and IT operations
  • Working knowledge of network infrastructure and associated security best practice, in particular the effective use of firewalls, network segmentation, intrusion detection/prevention systems, wireless security technologies and a wide range of technical security tooling.
  • Working knowledge of Windows workstation and server environments, including security best practices and associated threat detection technologies.
  • Working knowledge of SIEM solutions, log correlation and other advanced threat detection solutions to detect complex threats across a large and technically varied estate.
  • Working knowledge of vulnerability management solutions and processes, to actively identify and remediate technical vulnerabilities across a varied and complex IT estate.
  • Ability to write clear and maintain accurate, technical documentation, procedures and specifications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. A confident and engaging communicator able to adapt to different audiences. Able to educate about security in a sensitive and effective manner.
