Job Description

Position: Nursery PractitionerSalary: £19,136 - £20,800 (dependent on experience/qualification)Hours: Full time / Permanent / Mon-Fri / 40 hoursLocation: Walthamstow, LondonWe are currently recruiting for a passionate Nursery Practitioner to join our growing Bright Star Day Nursery.Our nursery in Chingford is 45 place and set in a beautiful purpose-built building with 2 spacious garden areas.As a Nursery Practitioner working with us, you can expect excellent training, progression and professional development as well as a caring and passionate place to work.Your role as Nursery Practitioner will include: Provide high standards of quality within the nursery including the environment, resources and experiences offered to children. Observe, support and extend childrens learning. Plan appropriately for children using the curriculum of excellence/ pre-birth to three. Good knowledge and understanding of the EYFS Maintain accurate and effective childrens records. Work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members. Demonstrate good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion. Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand, and when necessary follow, Safeguarding Procedures. Be a Key Person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families. Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures. Work as a team with other staff members.Essential Experience:

  • Work experience within the Early Years Sector
  • Current 12hrs paediatric First Aid Certificate
  • Experience as a key person
  • Knowledge of the early years curriculum and regulatory requirement.
  • Proven ability to work as part of team to ensure essential day to day tasks are completed in line with nursery demands ie. Hygiene standards and room preparation.
  • Experience of food preparation and the completion of relevant training linked to food management
  • Sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding children.
  • Specific Experience of working within the 0-5 years age group in accordance with the regulatory requirements if required
  • Desire and passion for ongoing learning and personal development
Experience Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Local Authority and Regulatory requirements and inspection processes across the UK
  • Working within policies, procedures, and regulatory requirement.
Qualifications:
  • 12 hours paediatric first aid (Can be completed within the company)
  • Food Hygiene or equivalent training and compliance in food management (Can be completed within the company)
  • Relevant safeguarding/child protection training undertaken and a willingness to update training regularly (essential)
Personal Attributes:
  • Able to communicate clearly with adults and children using a variety of techniques (oral and in writing)
  • Ability to support and inspire children in achieving the highest standards of care and education.
  • Able to manage workload and manage time effectively
  • Able and competent user of company ICT systems and have the willingness to learn and develop ICT skills
  • Passionate in working within the childcare sector.
Essential Skills & Experience.
  • Level 3 in childhood practice or Equivalent.
