Job Description

Harbour Learning Trust comprises nine schools. The board seeks up to three trustees possessing education, HR and/or finance skills. Meetings are in Grimsby or Lincoln.The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boardsat single-academy and multi-academy trusts (SATs and MATs). Academy trusts exist to improve the outcomes of young people. At the highest levels of governance, they need highly skilled individuals with a variety of experiences to hold executive leadership teamsto account. Insights from a wide-range of backgrounds, ensure that boards are able to make informed choices on decisions that impact the lives of children and staff.The Academy Ambassadors Programme is service funded by the Department for Education, to matchsenior business leaders with academy trusts looking to strengthen their boards. By working together, inspirational educationalists and talented business leaders can provide a better future for the next generation.The opportunityA nine-school academy trustsituated across Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire, Harbour Learning Trust comprises two secondary schools (one with a sixth form), one junior school and six primary schools. It also includes one School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) centrewhich supports the training of teachers across the region. The board is seeking to recruit up to three individuals possessing a variety of skills and able to bring challenge and add strategic capacity to help drive improvements and the renewed vision and ambition.While the trust seeks at least one candidate with education experience, no pre-existing educational experience is required for the other roles. Board meetings will be held virtually until it is safe to resume in person, at which point they will resume at eitherof our main hub locations in Grimsby or Lincoln.The board seeks up to three leaders with board level/senior experience in Education: Primary and/or Secondary Financial ManagementAs a key member of the board you will support the trust in achieving the followingover the next 12 - 24 months: To ensure high quality leadership and governance across the trust, ensuring all statutory obligations are met and astute decisions taken at all levels are based firmly on accurate information to achieve the best outcomes possiblefor children. To build an effective and efficient central services infrastructure to enable better connectivity and greater stability across the trust thus providing a professional and outstanding support service to staff and students.
