Job Description

NOC EngineerLondon/HybridSalary: £30k to £32k plus OOH allowance, overtime, Bonus and BenefitsThis NOC 1st / 2nd Line Engineer will be responsible for the network monitoring, technical troubleshooting, customer communication on both technical and non-technical level and configuration and delivery of customer services on the network. The NOC engineerwill also liaise with the onsite installation teams to perform testing and installation of new circuits.This is a great opportunity for a engineer that is seeking experience and knowledge in the NOC environment. Ideal for engineers with a CCNA accreditation who want more.Responsibilities include:

  • To provide day to day management and monitoring of customer and core networks inclusive of checking network utilization and availability of core and customer devices.
  • Fault logging and troubleshooting of fibre and fixed wireless internet services
  • Answering customer queries over the phone, via email etc. and informing customers outbound.
  • Taking over of cases and/or assisting with cases from our (outsourced) Service Desk support team.
  • Configuration of Cisco CPE for installations along with provisioning the network for installations.
  • Design and implement changes for Cisco CPE, such as modifying switching and routing, adjusting ACLs, DHCP, NAT
  • Perform initial technical troubleshooting on tickets and ensure escalation to the correct technical departments is followed within the agreed SLA times.
  • Occasionally attending customer sites to perform physical installation of equipment and testing.
  • The post holder will be required to participate on a weekly on-call rota to provide out of hours support for which an allowance would be payable.
Skills and Experience
  • Working knowledge of Cisco routers & switches withCisco families like: ISR 1k, 4k Series and 800 Series, Catalyst 2960, 6500, 3800ME, NCS-5504-SYS, ASR-1001-X, NCS540, ASR920-24SZ-M, SG series.
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS command line is essential.
  • Network Management tools such as Solarwinds etc
  • Understanding of network utility tools like iperf and ftp
  • Understanding of the OSI model and of networking protocols
  • Demonstrable understanding of network troubleshooting from physical copper and fibre cabling, wireless connectivity through to switching/routing issues.
  • Use of ticketing systems/CRMs such as Salesforce, SolarWinds Service Desk
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • Previous work experience in a NOC role, technical degree on a relevant subject and Cisco certifications are greatly appreciated but not essential. Willingness to study towards CCNA if not already acquired.
