Audiology and Hearing ServiceNewborn Hearing Screening ProgrammeFixed term contract Newborn Hearing ScreenerHours: variable (3 Month Fixed Term) 15 hours per week & Fixed Term 6 Months (28.5 hours per week)Service cover is over 7 days and some weekend working is required of all post-holdersGrade: Band 4Mainly based at Whipps Cross Hospital and at local community clinics but some cover may also be required at Newham University Hospital & Royal London HospitalWould you like to make a difference to a baby and their family’s livesWe are looking for energetic, caring and self-motivated people to be part of delivering the front-line services of the Newborn Hearing Screening service in Barts Health.The Audiology and Hearing Service provides hearing screening services to screen the hearing of all newborn babies across Barts Health. The successful candidate will join our team, based at the Maternity and Special Care Baby Units at our Hospitals including outpatient locations.Your main duties will be to perform the Newborn Hearing Screen to all babies eligible for testing, within national protocols. Our service helps identify babies who may have a hearing loss, so that they can be referred for further testing and receive the appropriate early intervention where appropriate.The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, experience in working with babies and must feel confident in working under pressure, as is the case in the busy Maternity environment.Please note that we are mainly seeking currently trained screeners however, successful candidates new to the role will be trained to a competent standard and are eligible to remain qualified up to a year from their start date with our services.The Barts Health Audiology service covers 5 districts in East London - Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney, Newham, Waltham Forest & Redbridge. Our team is made up of Audiologists, Assistants, Audiological Scientists and clerical staff providing diagnostic, rehabilitative and support services for people with hearing or balance problems. Newborn Hearing Screening is part of the wider service.This post falls within the Criminal Records Disclosure Policy and therefore a criminal records check will be applied for, for the successful candidate.
