Job Description

Responsible for the operation of the organisations Network global platforms, resolving any technical system issues and acting as the point of escalation for other teams within IT, supported by the Senior Engineers. This role requires an individual to support a business-critical infrastructure of a large Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto and Network monitoring systems enterprise estate.Client DetailsWorking for a multinational leading Financial Services organisation.Description

  • Maintain, monitor and operate the network environment in line with the organisations policies
  • Support the network related work streams of projects and ensure that project deliverable are executed efficiently.
  • Monitor and help to operate the network making sure that issues are logged and escalated to the next level of technical support or escalated to management where required
  • Provide technical support to the other departments within IT, on network related matters such as BAU issues.
  • Monitor and enhance the network and data centre environment by ensuring alerts generated by the system are managed and progressed
  • Assisting the Architecture and Engineer team with managing the environments hardware and software life-cycles, ensuring that the organisations systems do not become affected by the end of life or end of support milestones.
  • Mentoring junior members of the team
  • Intergrate automated processes where relevant and appropriate.

  • TCP/IP Networking
  • IP routing (Static and dynamic) especially BGP routing
  • L2 technologies (STP, LACP, LLDP etc)
  • IPv4 and IPv6 addressing
  • Good knowledge of network security concepts and how these can be applied to Infrastructure
  • Knowledge of firewall operation, configuration and deployment
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP etc)
  • Knowledge of cloud connectivity would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of software defined networking concepts
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate to non IT staff
  • Configuration of network experience (CISCO)
  • experience of troubleshooting issues on large network environments
  • A record of working on large Network related projects
    • Experience:
  • Extensive experience of working with CISCO networking technologies and solutions
  • CISCO certifications, CCNA or CCNP
  • Any experience of Cisco ACI - desirable
  • experience of Cisco SD-Access - desirable
  • Checkpoint firewalls, Checkpoint certifications - CCSA
  • Palo Alto Firewalls
  • Understanding of F5 Load Balancers or experience with other Load Balancing solutions
  • Infoblox experience
  • Experience of working with Forescout or an alternative Network Access Control product
  • ITIL experience
  • Experience of working with IT security teams to deliver security related projects.
