Job Description

Network EngineerAgency Reference Number: 7172540Venn Group is working with a prestigious University in London who are recruiting for a Network Engineer who will assist with the development, maintenance and support of the network across the University.Salary: £38,594 - £44,113Location: Hybrid working (come in when required)Length: permanentBenefits:pension, great amount of annual leaveJob responsibilities include:

  • Support network services (data, voice, telephony and unified communications)
  • Management of network infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Management of network address space
  • Support of network tools
  • Support of Wireless Networks
  • Internet connectivity operations and Support
  • Management of firewall systems
  • Management of hybrid on-premise/cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure that network related incidents are monitored and responded to appropriately
  • Plan and undertake planned Maintenance of network equipment
  • Work with the Infrastructure Architect to develop improvements and new projects
The successful candidate will have:
  • Prior experience of mentoring, motivating and developing junior staff, to deliver high quality services
  • Extensive experience of Network problem resolution and acting in a 2nd and 3rd line support capacity for a range of Network and Telephony technologies
  • Previous strong experience of implementing and managing data networking protocols including TCP/IP, RIP, OSPF, BGP, DHCP, DNS etc
  • Experience of enterprise class firewall management
  • Possess strong experience of network management & monitoring systems
  • Have experience of implementing and managing continuous service improvement
  • Be educated to degree level in an IT related subject or equivalent relevant experience
