Job Description

The job in a nutshellAs part of the UK spirits sales team at Berry Bros. & Rudd, you will be responsible for the sales management and activation of owned and 3rd party spirits brands with key ecommerce and prestige retail customers. Berry Bros. & Rudd has an existing spirits customer base than includes Bars, Restaurants, Hotels, E-commerce, Prestige Retail, Wholesalers, Multiple Grocers, Mail Order Wine Specialists, Independent Retailers and specialist wine merchants.The National Account Manager will be based at home, but have a requirement to travel to Head Office, Customers and Suppliers as required by the nature and scope of the roleReporting to the Senior National Account Manager, the National Account Manager will be responsible for managing their customers and for meeting sales/commercial targets.Who you will work withInternal: Senior National Account, Manager Head of Spirits, Marketing & brand managers, London & Regional BDMs and Sales supportExternal: Ecommerce businesses and prestige retailWhat you will do

  • Win new business listings, manage and negotiate with buyers & activate brand investment for spirits in key E-commerce and prestige retail accounts to facilitate sales growth of the brands with these customers
  • Proactive account management - developing relationships, deep understanding of the customer, working collaboratively with them to agree robust account plans, actively pitching ideas/proposals, being entrepreneurial, be responsive
  • Driving commercial return and achieving sales targets
  • Gaining meaningful visibility for our brands through effective activity programming and commercial management
  • Effective administration of accounts - account documentation, forecasting, reporting, GP management, A&P management with marketing team
  • Aligning customer marketing activity with brand plans/strategy
  • Sharing customer and market intelligence and insight with brands team
  • Negotiate terms, promotions and brand activations as well as manage the day to day customer requirements
  • Focus on key brands; No3 London Dry Gin, Kings Ginger, The Glenrothes & Lustau Vermut, and maximise sales opportunities for the remaining brands in the portfolio
  • Feed into social strategy to maximise impact of posts for our brands and customers
  • Organise staff trainings with key accounts for our brands using our spirits experts
  • Establish strong working relationships with the customer base of defined accounts to work on outlet specific brand plans including menus, range, visibility & activation
  • Optimise business in these accounts with limited editions & special releases
  • Work with the Marketing Manager and regional Business Development Managers to deliver best in class promotions to our customers and their staff and consumers
  • Attend trade events representing Berry Bros. & Rudd brands i.e. Customer Trade Shows, Imbibe, Juniper Festival, Glasgow Whisky Festival etc. Ensure that all working practices comply with Health and Safety legislation
  • Key Accountabilities
  • Day to day clear, concise and professional management of customers
  • Meet or exceed pre-agreed commercial targets for your accounts
  • Create, manage & execute the customer Joint Business Plans to achieve agreed goals
  • Develop new business compatible with the demands of the portfolio
  • Develop a detailed working knowledge of the spirits portfolio
  • Represent Berry Bros. & Rudd in the market place and to embody the companies’ values of Integrity, Passion, Generosity of spirit
  • Develop relationships with customer’s commercial, marketing & finance departments
  • Manage internal forecasts, ensuring all reporting is completed in a timely fashion
  • Work cross-functionally within the business and your customers to facilitate JBP implementation and grow our brands
