Job Description

Mental Health Teaching AssistantsNewhamSeptember StartTimeplan Education are currently supporting an independent SEN school in East London. They support children and young adults aged 7 - 19 with an EHCP for Autism, SEMH and associated complex needs. They are currently recruiting several experienced TeachingAssistants to work full time at their site in Newham.The selected applicants will have previous experience with Autism, Behavioural and mental health difficulties.You will be required to support children and young adults who have CAMHS referrals and have experienced high levels of trauma. You will work with students either on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. Work and activities will be tailored to the needs of the student. Manyof the students are disengaged, therefore you will need to be resilient and calm, preparing to put in the time required to build relationships with the students you support.Attributes that work well include being a good listener, calm, resilient and a good communicator.The school is very therapeutic in its approach, working closely with therapists, families, and outside agencies to support students to overcome their mental health difficulties, while working to gain the best academic outcome.For candidates who commit, the school can offer excellent rates of pay, as well as a friendly and stable working environment.The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
