Job Description

This is an exciting 3 month Media and Communications contract role.Client DetailsA well loved young persons health charity.DescriptionThe Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of online, traditional and social media, and use this knowledge to identify and maximise opportunities to raise awareness of the charity.
  • Develop real life stories based on the experience of children and young people, and their families, including interviewing, writing up and arranging photography andfilm content for use across the charity.
  • Provide support and briefing to families participating in PR work to ensure they have a positive experience.
  • Take part in a reactive news desk rota, responding effectively to all media enquiries, providing handling advice to staff and senior managers in order to promote and guard the charitys reputation.
  • Give advice and support on media issues, and provide media briefings to wider team
  • Take advantage of opportunities to provide and publish reactive comment, opinion and content in a timely manner to involve in news stories and debates that align with the charitys priorities.
  • Take part in the out of hours rota as required, responding to enquiries and identifying potential opportunities in breaking news outside of office hours.
  • Working with the Social Media Engagement Manager take part in the ongoing production of audience-led social media activity through the charitys corporate social media accounts, developing and taking advantage of creative opportunities to increase engagement.
  • As part of a rota, manage the social media schedule, publishing content and responding to queries from users/general public.
  • ProfileThe successful candidate must be immediately available and able to start a role by February 15th.The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Excellent media relations skills with a good news sense for selling in stories and managing reputation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information in clear, understandable messages
  • Office 365 and collaboration tools such as Skype Sharepoint and Microsoft teams
  • Ability to manage social media channels, listening and evaluation tools
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop for image and video editing
  • Strong people skills, and ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Will be able garner testimonials and stories from families effected by what the Charity covers.
  • Ability to think strategically and understand organisational goals
  • Understanding of press and broadcast mediums
  • Job Offer£130-£133 per day in a 2 month contract.
