Job Description

We have a brilliant new static permanent role for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a prestigious University based in London. You will be working in an In House Estates division, for an excellent Management team who will encourage you to progresswithin your career as an Engineer. You will be working on a static campus based near Kensington and will be impressed by the amazing buildings and heritage of this famous organisation. Being part of the public sector you will have unbelievable benefits includingan extremely high pension, 30 days holiday plus the bank holidays on top and be working only a 35 hour week.Within this Mechanical Maintenance Building Services role you will have a variety of tasks, these will include:

  • To carry out the routine checking of supplies and services, plumbing and small mechanical works.
  • Carrying out periodic checks to mechanical and general plant systems, reporting daily to the Maintenance Manager.
  • To carry out the routine checking of supplies and services, small lighting and power as well as distribution and control systems.
  • Carrying out periodic checks to emergency lighting and general plant systems.
  • Together with the M & E contractor and the Maintenance Manager oversee the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) plan.
  • To be the M & E contractors contact on site, supervising and ensuring that servicing takes place efficiently and appropriately.
  • Carry out general maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Carry out small refurbishment installation projects and general maintenance, decoration projects and supervise other maintenance team members during these projects as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • To assist the Health and Safety Manager to carryout H&S and Statutory Audits
  • Assist the Facilities Team when required which may mean undertaking general Facilities Officers tasks
This is a varied building services maintenance role. This is a Monday - Friday role working on a split shift 8-4 or 12-8 on a rota basis. You will work 1 in every 4 Saturdays once up and running, being given time off in lieu for this.For this Plumbing Mechanical Maintenance position we are looking for:
  • A level 2 Plumbing NVQ qualification or a Mechanical Maintenance qualification
  • Multi skilled trades experience within a professional environment such as an In House Estates team or for an M&E/ FM service provider
  • Experience of plumbing, water temperatures, reactive maintenance and PPMs
  • Basic electrical maintenance knowledge and experience would be an advantage
  • An understanding of health and safety in the workplace and building regulations such as L8 legislation and works
  • A people person with a flexible approach and a can do attitude
