Water is essential to daily life, and that means our business is always open.About the role:We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Technician. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible to inspect, maintaining, fault diagnosing, testing, installing, modify or repairing as appropriate, mechanicalplant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe efficient timely manner, with minimum supervision. You will also maintain the required standard to ensure our statutory obligations are met, availability and associated performance maintained. We are happyto consider people with a single skill set with the view to upskill in the future.About the location: You will be working in North East London, based at Coppermills Water Treatment Works in Walthamstow. This area covers water treatment works but also the New River & Lea Valley storage reservoirs. The call-out roster covers chemical process plants, transmissionpumping stations too. Our area has every type of process within water treatment, so the equipment you will be working on is varied in type & age. We have opened some of our areas to the public in order to give something back to the local community, this isthe new river path & the Walthamstow Wetlands.Key Accountabilities:

  • To carry out electrical or mechanical installation work at a variety of industrial / construction locations involving a number of different processes
  • To carry out inspection and testing work of installations to check compliance with current Standards and Regulations
  • To carry out maintenance and fault finding complying with current Standards and Regulations
  • Provide specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training support for technical trainees
  • Provide technical experience for projects & large capital programmes in the area
  • To comply with the Health and Safety at work regulations and Thames Waters Health and Safety guidelines
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills required for this role will be the following
  • Preferably a BTEC HNC in a combined Mechanical and Electrical subject
  • Minimum: C&G Mechanical Engineering following an Indentured Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, plus C&G Electrical Engineering (Either Installation or Testing and Certification), or NVQ level 3 in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
  • Ability to participate in confined space activities
  • Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry
  • Valid UK driving licence
