Job Description

MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEERLooking to speak with Mechanical Design Engineers with Mission Critical experience to join a reputable, building services consultancy in London on a long term contract basis.My client provide a full range of professional multi-disciplinary services, including engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services in over 200 locations around the world.Your key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Developing detailed designs in-line with client requirements
  • Carrying out mechanical design calculations using relevant software
  • Conducting feasibility studies
  • Carry out engineering concept design through to detailed design
  • Ensure all design projects and reports within the group are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard. Maintain regular in house design reviews and checks.
  • Motivate yourself and manage staff within group to build coherent high performing teams. Set objectives, monitor performance, coach and develop staff to optimise their potential.
  • Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
  • Implement Company Health and Safety. Ensure all designs respond to the CDM regulations.
  • Ensure Quality Management System ISO 9001 and 14001 are adhered to
  • Providing technical support and advice
  • Providing statements and reports as required
  • Assisting with the development of junior team members
Essential skills, experience and attributes:
  • Excellent understanding and experience using relevant software, including Hevacomp
  • Good working knowledge of building design
  • Strong technical abilities
  • Educational qualifications to a degree level or equivalent are desired.
  • Data Centre experience
  • Experience of critical mechanical systems, HVAC engineering and multiples levels of resilience including cooling, ventilation, humidification, fuel oil and flue systems.
  • Large scale chilled water and adiabatic cooling systems experience.
  • Knowledge of current UK building regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritise workloads
  • Previous experience working in the Building Services sector
