Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer - LondonWe have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior OR Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Tier 1, multidisciplinary consultancy on a long term contract or permanent basis in London.Our client provides a full range of professional multi-disciplinary services, including engineering, design and project management throughout the UK and around the world.This would be the perfect opportunity for candidates seeking to expand their own project portfolio, and work alongside a vibrant team of skilled professionals.Your key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Developing detailed designs in-line with client requirements
  • Carrying out mechanical design calculations using relevant software
  • Conducting feasibility studies
  • Providing statements and reports as required
  • Wider meetings with the wider design team
  • For Seniors - supervising the juniors work
  • For Principals - meeting/presenting to clients
  • Heavy design focus (Energy Modelling is highly beneficial in software such as IES)
  • Principals - must be familiar with dynamic thermal modelling with understanding of how model works
  • Seniors - required to be familiar with dynamic thermal modelling using IES with the ability to build the geometry of the building, and input different energy criteria whilst running energy simulations for testing different design scenarios
  • Compile with energy regulations
  • Thermal Modelling Software / Integrated Environment Solutions (IES) (compulsory for seniors only)
  • Building Information Modelling - Revit (compulsory for seniors only)
  • Large commercial office project experience
Essential skills, experience and attributes:
  • Excellent understanding and experience using relevant software, including Hevacomp
  • Good working knowledge of building design
  • Strong technical abilities
  • Knowledge of current UK building regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritise workloads
  • Previous experience working on commercial projects would be an advantage
