Maths Circles Curriculum ManagerReports to: Maths Circles Project leadLocation: London. Currently working remotely due to COVIDContract: Fixed-term contract, until August 2022, with possible extensionPattern: Full timeClosing date: 10am on 28th June 2021,recruiting on a rolling basisInterviews: w/c 28th June 2021Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 p.a., depending on experienceAbout Maths Circles:Ark is looking for a curriculum manager with strong teaching and education skills to join a new project running Maths Circlesacross UK for disadvantaged students aged 11 -14. This project is being run by MESME (Maths Education for Social Mobility and Excellence) which is an Ark affiliate venture. Maths Circles aim to develop students mathematical thinking and expand their mathematicalcuriosity, and will draw on similar models implemented successfully in Russia and America. After a successful first stage of the project this year, we are looking to expand the pilot next year working with a series of delivery partners to reach 1,500 students.This role will be responsible for the content creation, mentor training and curriculum development of the MESME Maths Circles.Please email for a job pack containing more information about MESME.About the role:The successful candidate will be enthusiastic aboutenabling young people from diverse backgrounds who share an interest in mathematical thinking to engage deeply with the subject, and will themselves love solving mathematical problems.For the right candidate, there is plenty of scope for growth and developmentin the role, as well as the opportunity to contribute to innovation and development within the team.Key Responsibilities and Duties: Leadership: Keep abreast of sector and subject developments, and innovative practice on a national and international level.Curriculum development and research: Produce materials for all MESME sessions. Design and revise curriculum resources, professional development materials and teaching ideas according to the MESME programme approach. Mentor support: Lead training for all mentorson the most impactful ways to deliver the MESME curriculum materials.Key Requirements: Significant teaching experience, including of high-attaining learners aged 11-16. Experience of leading curriculum development and producing high quality materials. Someexperience of successfully leading change in a school and providing professional development to teachers, including coaching, mentoring and training. Effective communication, presentation, planning andorganisationalskills. Knowledge of education developmentsand best practice in teaching. Skilled at building relationships and maintaining rapport with a range of stakeholders.
