Job Description

New Product Manufacturing Engineer£55,000 + BenefitsLondonThe largest independent manufacturer of its kind in the UK and established over 40 years ago - its a great time to join this hugely successful & continually growing business.They are ambitious in their pursuit of innovative products and continue to design and develop new products - and thats where this role comes in!Youll work across functions from design stage through to mass producing the product for worldwide customers, with the main objectives including:

  • Seamless integration of new products into the manufacturing process.
  • Design and organise clear ramp up plans through pre-production builds, planning and execution.
  • Lead product launch for your team to ensure deliverables are met.
What you will be doing
  • Working closely with the Design department to ensure final product specifications are suitable for mass production.
  • Ensuring robust feedback loops between departments, and communicate lessons learnt once products are in production.
  • Produce production impact analysis for the suggested designs, analysing the effects on the whole factory and distilling this to a few key KPIs, such as the cost to manufacture.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the team, reporting out program status and preparing gate review documents for leadership team.
  • Write SOPs and process flows to define how the new products are to be manufactured.
  • When needed to purchase new equipment: liaise with machinery suppliers, produce CAPEX budget requests and business cases, negotiate new machinery purchases.
  • Install equipment, perform risk assessments, write standard operating procedures, and train operators.
  • Implement and handover a Continuous Improvement program once production has started to maximise capacity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Consider new and innovative ideas to drive enhanced operational activities across the business.
You will need
  • Experience launching new product(s) within a manufacturing environment.
  • Technical knowledge of LEAN principles and other manufacturing theories.
  • Problem solving experience using Root Cause Analysis, DMAIC or other techniques.
  • Project management skills and the ability to balance a variety of tasks, while striving for long[1]term improvements.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety law and best practice.
