Job Description

Hippo Digital is seeking a business focussed and people-centric Managing Consultant operating as a Portfolio Director to lead, develop and grow our design portfolio consisting of the following professions: user research, user experience, content design andservice design.Acting as Portfolio Director you will be responsible for setting the strategy for the design portfolio within Hippo Digital, aligning this to the board-level vision for Hippo as a whole. Reporting to the Service and Delivery Director, youll oversee thesmooth running of the professions within your portfolio, ensuring projects are resourced with appropriately skilled consultants, our people are looked after both pastorally and from a career development perspective and the professions are working to supportdelivery of the overall business strategy.In addition to the day to day running of the portfolio, and as a Managing Consultant and expert in user-centred design, youll maintain an average utilisation rate of 60%, working alongside our growing number of nationwide clients.What youll do

  • Supporting project reviews, interventions and mitigations working alongside Service Delivery Leads, Project Quality Manager and other Portfolio Directors
  • Review and inform deliverability and effort of new work in the business development pipeline aligned to Portfolio growth KPIs
  • Active management of portfolio utilisation rates to ensure that each level is meeting its targets
  • People allocation to projects within the portfolio, ensuring people fit for projects
  • Responsibility for recruiting to meet business plan targets and business need within the portfolio at all levels, supported by talent acquisition
  • Continued development and implementation of the Profession skills framework within the portfolio and ensure that peoples capabilities are accurately tracked against it as part of the Career Development process
  • Responsibility for the development, quality and levels of engagement, cross practice sharing and supporting of communities of practice within their portfolio
  • Continually developing Professional strategies including tooling, techniques, standards and ways of working
  • Directly supporting the development of Hippos service offering in line with the wider business strategy
