Locum Executive Editor (Maternity cover)Palgrave Macmillan Location: London, UKClosing date: 4th October 2021Responsible for the strategic growth, development, and editorial management of the portfolio/list. The role involves acquisition, delivering forwardprogramme targets, management of (senior) editors and involvement in the sales and marketing strategy. Responsibilities Manage and grow a key Publishing Program or several Publishing Programs and deliver competitive and profitable products in line with thebooks strategy Contribute to the strategic direction of the Publishing Discipline and the global Publishing unit Is recognized as an outstanding publishing expert by the members of scientific/academic community Develop and maintain a large network of authorsMeet goals set by editorial management such as contracts signed and manuscripts handed over to production Contribute to publishing guidelines in close cooperation with the Editorial Director, SNPAG, SNEAG and SN Publishing Board Follow the development in thePublishing Industry and academic Community and pro-actively respond to market trends and opportunities Manage and coach Assistants/Editors to ensure that department targets and KPIs are achieved Initiate and represent the team in projects liaising with keystakeholders i.e. Production, Sales, Marketing, Finance and other Editorial colleagues Business travel (domestic/international) as requiredExperience, skills and qualificationsEssential Excellent English language skills Educated to degree or PhD level or equivalent[preferably in a relevant field] Demonstrable experience of leading a team within a Science/Academic publishing environment Sound analytical skills Proactive attitude Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to develop and progress businessproposals Excellent negotiating skills Ability to manage and motivate others Financial understandingDesirable Project management experience Leadership potentialThis role can be located in our London office.
