Locum Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Geoscience (Earth or Planetary Sciences) London, New York or ShanghaiClosing date: August 10th 2021Nature Geoscience - a prestigious international monthly journal covering all areas of the Earth and planetary sciences- is seeking a Locum Associate or Senior Editor to join its editorial team.The ideal candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent), and should be able to demonstrate a broad interest in areas of research beyond their own expertise. Editorial experience wouldbe beneficial, but is not required.We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with expertise in solid Earth science, geophysics, tectonics and/or planetary science, but we will also consider candidates with broad interests from other areas of the geosciences.Thesuccessful candidate will play an important role in determining the representation of their field in the journal, and will work closely with the other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including selection of manuscripts for publication, commissioningand editing of Reviews, Comment and Opinion pieces, and writing for the journal. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the scientific community through laboratory visits (online or in person) and international conferences.This is a challenging and intellectuallystimulating position for someone with a keen interest in the practice and communication of science, and with excellent interpersonal skills. Broad scientific knowledge and training, excellent literary skills and the ability to manage multiple competing prioritiesand short deadlines is a prerequisite.The position is offered on a full-time basis for an initial period of 6 months, and will be located in our London, New York or Shanghai office. All candidates are working remotely until the offices reopen where you willbe expected to be based in the office in line with our working from home policy.Applications should include the following:1.
