Job Description

Role: Linux Platform Engineer Contract: 6 MonthsDay Rate: £450 Location: Remote (Mostly remote- expected on-site once or twice a month)Other Requirements: SC cleared UK national required, London based. Further information is at the bottom of this advertI am seeking a talented Platform Engineer to join a leading computer services provider in designing, building a revolutionary DNS Resolver platform on their private cloud.This platform is the linchpin of their DNS services worldwide, and you will play a pivotal part in shaping the platform aspart of a huge technology transformation, in which you will eventually manage and become a true expert in.This is your chance to be a part of a game-changing technology transformation from the ground up. Shape and manage the platform and emerge as a true specialist. As the platform progresses, youll transition from the design phase to the pivotal role of managingand operating it within a versatile production system, systematically replacing obsolete legacy services.Key Requirements:

  • Expertise in Linux, with a focus on automation, bare-metal deployment, and performance optimization.
  • Advanced knowledge of virtualized environments, including Linux/KVM Hypervisors and familiarity with VMware.
  • A deep understanding of Linux kernels and the ability to create highly secure environments.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Salt.
  • Experience with enterprise-grade solutions such as Satellite, DataDog, CheckMK, and Zabbix.
  • Scripting experience in languages like Python, Perl, or Bash.
  • Hardware management skills, including racking, vendor coordination, and equipment replacement.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, load balancing, firewalling, TCP/IP stack, subnetting, and LAN separation.
  • Experience with containerization tools like Docker is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms such as AWS is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ITIL best practices and ISO compliance.
