It is a "hands on" role, where youll be working on the buildings that make such an important contribution to the landscape and supporting the people who live, work andvisit the area.Our Yorkshire Dales Let Estate is spread across two main holdings on Malham Moor and Upper Wharfedale, with a number of smaller holdings in the Northern Dales. The management of our let estate and the relationships with our tenants underpinsour land and property conservation work and the rental income generated by the Let Estate is the main source of funding for work across the Yorkshire Dales. This role will be based at the National Trust Estate Office near Malham Tarn, but you will be requiredto travel to all necessary locations within the Yorkshire Dales and a National Trust vehicle will be provided for your use.What youll be doingReporting to the Yorkshire Dales Building Supervisor, you will carry out high quality repairs, maintenance and refurbishmentsto the properties across our let estate and holiday cottage portfolio. Whether it be farm, a manor house or a cottage, youll be a trusted contact for our tenants, or carrying out work in preparation to welcome new tenants or guests. Youll know what methodsand materials are needed to carry out the task in hand and will strive to use resources efficiently and effectively. Often, youll work alongside other trades who are contracted-in by the National Trust and you will carry out tasks which complement their workin order to maintain, make safe or improve our properties. Youll be proactive in your approach to risk management and ensure risk assessments are undertaken and all work is compliant with the relevant legislation and policies. Youll work in collaborationwith colleagues and liaise with tenants so that expectations are managed and regular updates are communicated. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate: Experience in a variety different trades including basic plumbing, joinery and decorating. An understanding of traditional buildings/structures and ability to make sound judgment onthe appropriate extent and method of works within such settings Good time management including prioritising and managing own time to deliver an agreed scope and quality of work A good understanding of the standards of health & safety legislation (includingCDM) that apply to your own work and others around you.
