Job Description

To negotiate and agree terms of appointments, warranties, deeds of novation, sub-consultancy and confidentiality agreements on behalf of the organisation.Client DetailsMy client is an independent construction and property consultancy working across all sectors of the built environment.DescriptionMain roleTo negotiate and agree terms of appointments, warranties, deeds of novation, sub-consultancy and confidentiality agreements on behalf of the LLP.Main duties:

  • Administer the negotiation process (in such manner and timeframe as the Appointments Manager shall require) from the initial stages leading to final recommendation, execution and archive of documentation, so that the LLP can accept the legal and insuranceterms agreed, and ensure they comply with the LLPs current PI insurances
  • Ensure that appropriate records are maintained in accordance with internal filing conventions and document management systems updated regularly
  • Assist in drafting legal documents including appointments and collateral warranties
  • Monitor any delays in the negotiation of appointments and understand the impact this has on fee payments and commercial best practice, and report thereon to the Appointments Manager in a timely manner
  • Monitor and deal with any potential "conflicts of interest" which arise and liaise with the Appointments Manager as necessary
  • Ensure that all appointments comply with the LLPs procedures in the Business Management System (BMS)
  • Assist in researching new areas of legislation and other legal developments. Advise on the implications thereof.
  • Assist in the provision of in-house training to the LLP
  • Attend CPD courses and training events as required and report back thereon
  • Utilise standard appointment document and services schedules in the BMS
  • Incorporate legislative changes and best practice issues within appointment policies documents and procedures, and liaise thereon with the Appointments Manager
  • Provide support to other members of the Legal Team from time to time as directed by the Group Legal Partner and Company Secretary and General Counsel
  • Follow all practice and procedure updates issued by the firm
Profile
  • At least 2-5 years experience in a similar role - essential
  • legal and/or construction professional with qualifications in law and/ or legal practice - desirable
  • Understanding of professional standards and need for confidentiality - essential
  • Ability to work within a team environment, with a proactive attitude to completing assigned tasks - essential
  • Able to communicate with people at all levels including project and main board partners
  • Confident
  • IT literate and experienced in MS Office packages
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Full time office role- some flexibility available.
