Job Description

Job Title: Legal Cashier / Legal Accounts Assistant Salary: £30,000 - £35,000Location: By Oxford StreetType: Permanent, Full TimeOur client is a successful law firm based in the Westend. As the Legal Cashier, you will be reporting to the Finance Manager and supporting them with day to day accounting finances.PLEASE NOTE - Only CVs with relevant experinece within the LEGAL INDUSTRY will be considered.Accounts Duties:

  • Banking
  • Petty Cash
  • Cheque Requests
  • Transfers: Client to Office, Office to Client
  • Journals: Client to Client, Disbursement to Disbursement
  • Time Transfers
  • Designated Deposit Accounts: Opening, Closing, Quarterly Interest entries, Withdrawals, Deposits, Maintaining, transactions through bank and on Accounts system
  • Checking and entering Bills
  • Purchase Ledgers system - Counsel Fee Notes/Professional Expenses
  • Expenses run twice per month
  • Suppliers invoices, ensuring items received, checking correct charges, marry up with delivery note, querying, checking, paying by cheque or BACS
  • Various Accounting reports as & when requested by Fee Earners, Billing Reports, WIP, calculating funds received from Client over time
  • Foreign payments
  • Interest Calculations on Client Money
  • Bankline (NatWests Online banking system) - TTs BACS, Interbank Transfers, Daily Bank Statements
  • Complying and keeping up to date with SARs
  • Being Mindful of Money Laundering and reporting to Money Laundering Officer any suspicious transactions
  • Universal Uniport system, submitting bills
  • Checking completion statements
  • Monthly credit card management
  • Report to Partners
  • Accountants Annual Audit - To assist Finance Manager
  • Ordering paying in Books, Cheques, filing of monthly statements
  • Write offs (Time, Disbursements, Bills)
  • Reopening Files
  • Bank Charges and Interest
  • Online Invoicing: Land Registry, Court fees, Easy Convey searches
  • General administrative tasks
  • Summary of requirements
  • Up to date experience and knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Knowledge of accounts software Partner is highly desirable but not compulsory
  • Large degree of autonomy within the role
  • Responsibility of both Office and Client accounts
  • ILFM qualification would be beneficial.
