Job Description

Inspire the next generation of leaders at Harris Boys Academy East Dulwich.We are looking for a hardworking, ambitious and dynamic Learning Resources Manager/School Librarian to join our outstanding team of support staff. You will have excellent opportunities to engage in wider Harris Federation academy improvement and professional development activities.Your opportunityAs School Librarian, you will maintain an open learning environment which supports students and staff in their learning and encourages reading, research and self-esteem, as well as undertaking the day-to-day management of Learning Resource Centre (LRC). Your responsibilities will include: Liaise with teaching staff over acquisition and management of stock to support the Curriculum, and ordering this from appropriate, cost-effective sources. Evaluating books for age, content and condition and support the schools Literacy schemes. Managing class sets and provide materials for DEAR Time reading sessions. Writing and implementing annual LRC action plan and reviewing the policy in line with the School Development Plan. Creating an inclusive environment and open the library to all students at break time, lunch time and after school, including working with the SENCO to accommodate SEN students. Leading and managing student induction days. Planning and teaching library lessons as required. Research and providing resources for Curriculum use/lessons, and creating displays and competitions relating to relevant curriculum topics and world current affairs. Organising author visits and library events such as National Poetry Day, World Book Day, Carnegie Shadowing. Overseeing the use of LRC ICT equipment and Library Homework Club, and leading and managing after-school Book Club.
