Job Description

Purpose of the roleThis busy and wide-ranging role coordinates and supports Bond’s sector change and learning communities to help achieve Bond’s strategic objective to deliver purposeful working groups that support the sector to change, deliver policy outcomes or support learning.The post-holder provides logistical and admin support to the chairs and steering committees and coordinates their efforts to share and disseminate learning, knowledge and best practice to the wider sector. Crucial to the role is ensuring coherence between communities. This involves working closely with the Policy Communities Coordinator, Sector change and funding adviser and other Bond colleagues and Chairs to proactively initiate collaboration across and between communities.As a member of the Communications and Member Services Team (CMT), the post-holder will also work with other team members to amplify the voice of the communities, and will lead of their governance, planning and budget management jointly with the Policy Communities Coordinator.Main responsibilitiesBe the main support for the Bond learning and sector change communities (50%)

  • Build strong relationships with the Chairs and steering committees of the learning and sector change communities and support them to deliver their plans and activities.
  • Work closely with Bond colleagues who lead the core sector change communities and assist them in convening their groups.
  • Build communities and support sector transformation (35%)
  • Proactively engage the working groups that coalesce around learning and sector transformation.
  • Support colleagues who lead Bond’s sector change communities to convene and facilitate their group.
  • Governance, strategy and reporting (15%)
  • Progress towards a clear, new way of working with Bond’s online communities, and embed this in the development of the Bond communities strategy - with the Policy Communities Coordinator and others.
  • Review the governance of groups and ensure it is consistent, formalised and fit for purpose, ie, terms of reference, structure, chair/steering committee elections

  • Excellent administrative, communication, organisational and logistical skills.
  • Experience of coordinating the production and delivery of materials such as reports, blogs, learning resources.
  • Experience of convening and bringing different groups and levels of people together.
  • Enthusiastic and committed to seeking out opportunities for greater collaboration.
  • Experience of organising and facilitating online and face-to-face meetings and events.
  • Experience of using digital tools and platforms (intranets, online communities etc.) and an understanding of how these can support collaboration and knowledge exchange within networks and groups.
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage a wide-range of tasks.
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Office and CRMs.
  • Right to work in the UK.

  • An understanding of the key issues and themes within international development.
  • Experience working with membership-based organisations such as communities, networks and coalitions, ideally within the charity or NGO sector
  • Experience of working in a communications or advocacy role.
  • Experience of deeper convening and change processes
