Here at Prospero, we are working with a creative event production agency based in central London to find a Lead Scenic Chargehand to join their fast pasted construction team. Our client applies specialist knowledge in event planning, conceptual design andtechnical production to create engaging experiences on any scale. Th Scenic Chargehand is responsible for bringing our creative designs to life, creating everything from customised sets and stages, exhibition stands, furniture, pop-up shops, and props of everyshape and size.Key Details:

Who Are You

• Firstly and most importantly, you are a great communicator. You understand that effective communication is at the heart of every successful team
• You are a team player, you understand that everyone has a role to play, and accept your own personal responsibility in making sure we deliver excellence
• You have highly developed carpentry and finishing skills
• You have a good working knowledge of a full range of current scenic and exhibition construction methods, equipment, and practices. As well as integrations between technology and scenic elements
• You have experience in reading and working from drawings
• You have a working knowledge of AutoCAD / Vectorworks & Sketchup, along with all the usual MS office suite in particular the ability to use excel to monitor time and materials
• Youre a natural collaborator. You understand that the world we operate in is chaotic and often last minute and you use your communication skills to continuously collaborate with colleagues in other departments to reduce issues
• Youre commercially astute with a good understanding of profitability, margin protection, cost control, and basic accounting practices
• Sustainability is important to you, you know our industry has work to do and youre ready and willing to get stuck in with helping us do better
• Youre a proactive, self-motivated individual capable of using your initiative in a constantly changing and pressurised environment and fast-developing company

Day To Day Youll Be

• Leading the construction teams to fulfil the tasks of the day
• Supervising on site construction teams for large projects
• Coordinating with the Workshop Manager and Scenic Project managers over upcoming projections
• Advising workshop team on best practices, construction techniques, and finishes
• Quality checking all projects prior to dispatch to ensure the highest levels of finish
• Working with the Workshop Manager on Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and work flow
• Working with the management team on reaching the company sustainability goals, specifically on reducing waste and reducing the use of single-use plastic from our workflow (check out our 2030 Pledge).
• Identifying areas of our operation where you believe training and additional skills may be required to benefit yourself or the business
• Living and demonstrating our company values both internally and externally
• Providing feedback to Line Manager of any areas of improvement, development or growth of the business identified. Take a role within the team in problem-solving and contributing to team & business improvement
